Introduction to and Purpose of the AFCC-CA Member Child Custody Evaluators List (“the List”)
The AFCC California Chapter (“AFCC-CA”) Mentoring Outreach Committee (“MOC”) has concluded that AFCC-CA should make a List of all of its mental health professional (“MHP”) members who may be providing Child Custody Evaluation (“CCE”) services. The goal of the List is to create a resource for attorneys, judges and parents who sometimes have a hard time locating well qualified evaluators in their communities. With the advent of remote-CCEs, we believe that a centralized list that lists the counties in which the MHPs practice would be an invaluable resource to the larger community. The List will first be available to all members of AFCC-CA and we hope to target others for appropriate dissemination in the future.
To join the List, a MHP must be a member in good standing of AFCC-CA and meet the qualifications necessary to conduct CCEs per the California Rules of Court 5.225.
Please note that the introduction to the published List will include this statement: “AFCC-CA has not vetted the qualifications of these mental health professionals. They are Members in good standing of AFCC-CA. They have stated they meet all requirements to serve as a court appointed child custody evaluator per California Rule of Court 5.225 (“Appointment requirements for child custody evaluators”). The user of this List should do their own vetting process to verify what is stated herein.”
All MHPs who wish to be on the List will endorse the following statement: “I confirm that within the past three years I have completed or materially assisted on four child custody qualifications and met all other requirements per CA Rule of Court 5.225 (“Appointment requirements for child custody evaluators”).”
