One of the most challenging issues in family law matters is identifying and understanding parent-child contact problems (PCCP). Broadly, there are two main “camps”: 1) There are those who believe that if there isn’t known, identified abuse, it must be parental alienation. They have identified this as the “5-factor model”; 2) There are those who believe the concept is much more complex and that there can be myriad explanations for such challenges in family law matters. These professionals believe that the 5-factor model only applies to a small percentage of PCCP cases, and seek to understand all the reasons why a child/children might resist contact with a parent.
This workshop will explore these concepts in depth and provide guidance on the evaluation of such families and their challenges, while simultaneously explaining why workable solutions are unique to each family.
